  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • Red food coloring (as desired)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar twice for a smooth texture.
  3. In a clean bowl, whip egg whites on medium speed until foamy. Gradually add granulated sugar and whip until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold in sifted dry ingredients and red food coloring until combined; the batter should flow like lava.
  5. Pipe small circles onto prepared sheets, leaving space between each. Tap trays gently to release air bubbles.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until macarons develop feet and lift easily off parchment; cool completely before filling with prepared frosting.
