Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round baking pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes). Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add half of the dry ingredients followed by half the milk; mix until just combined. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  5. Divide batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
