  • 4 large Russet potatoes (about 2 lbs), peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Peel and slice the Russet potatoes into 1/8 inch thick rounds.
  3. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter; whisk in heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until combined.
  4. Gradually stir in the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  5. Layer half of the potato slices in the greased dish, pour half of the cheese sauce over them, then repeat with remaining potatoes and sauce.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; remove foil during the last 15 minutes for a crispy crust.
