  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk flour and salt; gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  3. Divide dough in half. Mix cocoa powder into one half; if needed, add a splash of milk.
  4. Roll out both doughs between parchment paper to 1/4-inch thickness; chill for 30 minutes.
  5. Layer chocolate dough over vanilla dough; roll tightly into a log shape and freeze for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice log into 1/4-inch thick rounds and bake on lined sheets for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
