  • 1 box (15.25 oz) red velvet cake mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix red velvet cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and milk until just combined. Pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool slightly.
  4. For the cheesecake layer, beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, sour cream, eggs, vanilla extract, and cocoa powder until smooth.
  5. Pour cheesecake filling over the cooled red velvet layer evenly.
  6. Bake again for 25-30 minutes until set but slightly jiggly in the center.
  7. Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars and dusting with powdered sugar.
