Description

Greek chicken souvlaki is a delightful Mediterranean dish featuring tender, marinated chicken skewers grilled to perfection. Bursting with zesty flavors and aromatic herbs, this easy-to-make recipe is perfect for summer barbecues or cozy family dinners. Serve it with warm pita bread and homemade tzatziki sauce for an unforgettable meal that brings everyone together.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Pita bread or skewers for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken breasts into uniform cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken cubes and toss until well coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least one hour or overnight for best flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F/200°C).
  4. Thread marinated chicken onto skewers without overcrowding.
  5. Grill for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/75°C).
  6. Serve with tzatziki sauce and garnish with fresh herbs.
