  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • Halloween sprinkles or food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until glossy. Add eggs one at a time until creamy.
  3. In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  4. In a separate bowl, cream together softened butter with sugars for the cookie dough. Mix in vanilla extract and eggs until blended.
  5. Sift flour with baking soda and salt into the cookie mixture; fold in sprinkles if desired.
  6. Layer half of the brownie batter in the dish, dollop cookie dough on top, then pour remaining brownie batter over it all.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean from the brownie section.
