- 9 lasagna noodles
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 lb ground beef or sausage
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 large egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or sausage until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add minced garlic and chopped onion to the skillet; sauté until softened.
- Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, half of the Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and chopped basil until smooth.
- In a baking dish, layer meat sauce at the bottom followed by noodles, then the cheese mixture and mozzarella. Repeat layers until ingredients are used.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
