  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 lb ground beef or sausage
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or sausage until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add minced garlic and chopped onion to the skillet; sauté until softened.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, half of the Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and chopped basil until smooth.
  6. In a baking dish, layer meat sauce at the bottom followed by noodles, then the cheese mixture and mozzarella. Repeat layers until ingredients are used.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
