These fluffy rolls, bursting with fresh orange flavor and topped with a creamy citrus icing, are easy to make and perfect for any occasion. Whether served at brunch or as a sweet afternoon snack, they’re sure to impress friends and family alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk (warmed)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • Zest and juice of 2 fresh oranges
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk until hot but not boiling. Combine it with sugar and yeast in a bowl; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, and half of the flour to the yeast mixture; mix well. Gradually incorporate remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. For the filling, mix softened butter, sugar, orange zest, and cinnamon until smooth. Once dough has risen, roll out into a rectangle and spread filling evenly.
  5. Roll tightly from one long side and slice into 12 pieces. Place in a greased baking dish and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. While baking, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and vanilla for the icing. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
