Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk (warmed)
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 large eggs
- Zest and juice of 2 fresh oranges
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Warm the milk until hot but not boiling. Combine it with sugar and yeast in a bowl; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
- Add melted butter, eggs, and half of the flour to the yeast mixture; mix well. Gradually incorporate remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- For the filling, mix softened butter, sugar, orange zest, and cinnamon until smooth. Once dough has risen, roll out into a rectangle and spread filling evenly.
- Roll tightly from one long side and slice into 12 pieces. Place in a greased baking dish and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and vanilla for the icing. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
