  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 quart high-quality vanilla ice cream, softened
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 3 oz strawberry gelatin (sugar-free optional)
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Crush pretzels into fine crumbs.
  2. Mix pretzel crumbs with sugar and melted butter until damp but crumbly.
  3. Press the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and bake for 10 minutes until golden. Let cool completely.
  4. Spread softened vanilla ice cream evenly over the cooled crust.
  5. In a saucepan, dissolve strawberry gelatin in water over medium heat; remove from heat once melted.
  6. Fold in sliced strawberries, let cool slightly, then pour over the ice cream layer.
  7. Cover and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight until firm.
