- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup ketchup or BBQ sauce (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent (about 5 minutes).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, sautéed onion and garlic, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Shape half of the meat mixture into a rectangle on parchment paper. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella down the center.
- Fold the sides of the meat mixture over the cheese to encase it completely. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet and top with ketchup or BBQ sauce.
- Bake for approximately 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
