- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 4 sprigs fresh thyme
- 4 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 4 sprigs fresh sage
- 6 garlic cloves (minced)
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- 1 large sweet onion (quartered)
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Remove giblets from the turkey cavity.
- In a bowl, mix softened butter with garlic, chopped herbs, salt, and pepper.
- Pat the turkey dry and rub half of the herb butter mixture inside and outside.
- Stuff the cavity with onion quarters and lemon slices; add remaining herb butter.
- Place turkey breast-side up in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the pan.
- Roast for approximately 13-15 minutes per pound or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Let rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
